It is with great pleasure that we are able to open the doors to St John the Evangelist for the 10th and last concert of our Beethoven violin and piano sonata series.  It has been an extraordinary year and a wonderful experience, learning and performing these amazing works,  4 to a live audience and 5 purely online.  We have had many special guests over the last year but this last concert, consisting of the immensely sublime G major sonata op.96, will be purely enSEmble26.

For our next concert in this series, we are thrilled to have been joined by the extraordinary young soprano Luci Briginshaw, singing 5 beautiful songs by English composer Peter Warlock, a selection from a CD recorded with Eleanor which will be released in 2021.
We did, as always miss our audience and we hope that as many of you as possible can join us, next Sunday 31st January at 7.30pm for a live ZOOM pre-concert talk with an ‘artist spotlight’ on Luci and then we will follow the link to the YouTube premiere to watch our concert, the 5th in our series of Beethoven’s violin and piano sonatas. Beethoven and jazz! October 16th 12.30pm

These concerts are a celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday year and as we have mentioned before, Beethoven was an immense improviser on the piano, winning many ‘improvisation’ competitions as a young man.  There is so much of his improvisation prowess heard within the violin and piano sonatas that we decided to use this as inspiration when programming this concert.

In the first half, Eleanor and Ellie are going to perform the next in our series of Beethoven sonatas, the A minor Op. 23, which is fiery, dramatic and ridiculously beautiful!
In the second half of the concert we are so excited to be welcoming the incredible jazz pianist, Richard Lewis, who will improvise an interlude before accompanying Tom, singing and on violin, in some of the most popular songs in the jazz genre.
